Summary: In Belgium during World War II, young Willy becomes friends with Max and his Jewish family, and although they are later separated by the war, they remain related by a bond of friendship and a special painting which eventually is returned to its rightful owner. A note at the end of the story describes how some artworks stolen during the Second World War are being recovered and reunited with their original owners.
